SUNNYSIDE LADIES

Welcome!
Great to see who was going to come tonight after the busy summer months of not meeting together. There was lots of catching up to do!! Mrs Blabey was the first to arrive after a day of washing carrots and a hundred buckets of potatoes . Whew. That is a full weeks work for me!!! Then Jo arrived with her carload full, Valerie and Charlotte too with their cars full.

Gratified anticipation greeted me as the ladies came in, their exclamations over the decorations, curious as to what kind of food we were going to eat and seeing each other over again brought smiles and gasps and voices chattering about this and that.

Choosing a place to sit, which is not usually hard because normally we all sit in the same place!!! but this time everyone just took their place near the top and soon all but two places were filled at the end of the table. We should go out into the street and invite the people to our banqueting table!! We were twelve in all.

INSPIRATIONAL MOMENT: Soon the conversations were interrupted by a request for opening prayer which Charlotte offered asking God to bless each one present and absent and thanking Him for all that was before us. Going across the table and back I started by acknowledging the pictures Charlotte printed and put up on the bulletin for ADRA Walkathon. Several of us went on that even though it was muddy and drizzling, but still pleasant enough to walk or bike as a few of us did. Jim jogged all the 10 kilometers or at least every time I saw him. I biked and got mud from head to toe. Sometimes I had to get off and walk as the hills were too steep. Then I would get back on and bike again. Sometimes the getting on and changing gears made the bike swerve more than a few times! and I wondered what the people might think about it, that this person sure has a hard time steering a bike!! On the way back, still drizzling rain I was curious as to how my tracks actually looked and smiling felt a little foolish, but noticed the tracks didn't show. They were gone! The rain had smoothed the crooked tracks away.

I smiled to myself again and thought, "Well isn't that just like God, He knows we make mistakes and have a hard time in life, getting up and down in our walk of life. Then He washes the rough times away and and we can go on with living again!" ..... Still smiling!

Alice was happy as about five people phoned to give her a ride to the meeting. She has been not feeling well for a long time and was glad to come. We were glad to see her too and give her a hug. She is thankful for all the helpful visits from her children. Thank you for coming Alice.

Alma - thankful for the morning worship book which gives her a lift every morning. She prays for Mrs Mattson who has had surgery.

Betty - they had a wonderful time on their long trip to the north looking at all the scenery, swamps, animals, bison and I am sure birds! She was remembering when she was a little girl, Alice used to hold her on her lap and Alice remembers all the curls Betty used to have!! Good memories!

Jo - The Lord was good to her also as she got to spend a whole month with her father before he passed away. Then she had to go thru surgery with her brother who is well now. All this prompted a good visit with her children. And she is thankful for all the energy God allowed her to have thru the summer.

Valerie - Wonderful summer with her children. One is overseas doing well and learning new things. The other making her favorite soup and the last one is studying hard. She praises God for the time in raising her kids. And now for the time she will spend at home gaining health again. Lifelong friendships with community and church uplift her.

Bonnie - Has empathy for others who are going thru hard health problems as she herself has had to go thru. She did not get the time to grow her garden this year in part because the weather did not cooperate!! but with family and pets that gave her comfort she was able to share Jesus to listening ears. A book her husband happened to find at the garbage - Steps to Christ - she gave to a young man. The weeds are still there, that's OK, but God's goodness was spread too. Good Summer!

Laura - had a wonderful summer with the girls, they went on sunshine bands and door to door. She is back to school again taking nursing. Went to the Woman's Retreat at Hope and had many wonderful words to say. and Praising God all the way. Well! you do look refreshed.

Florence - went to a wedding, a graduation, a bomb scare, on several airplane rides, braved it all by herself sometimes, a music festival, and after all that came home and entertained and canned pears and cleaned house and what else does this woman do. My head is spinning-ahhah Thank you Lord for safety and family.

Ruth T - is busy getting the church library organized and hopes that many more of us would stop by and look at the good books that are available there. So on a Saturday night when there is no hockey ladies, you could grab a book and read it, or dare I say even when there is hockey on. no no.!

Gail is happy to keep in touch with her daughter and perhaps getting some new things to eat with. We are glad you are coming to our meetings.

Charlotte - Praises God for the wonderful summer also as she got to spend time with her husband and family. She went to campmeeting and also the women's ministry retreat which everyone thought was just wonderful and came back with and unspeakable blessing.

Bev - I too had a blessing as our family seems to have mended and are able to communicate once again. My father seems to recouperating well even though he has some sleepy days.

if we are not talking about you we are not thinking about you and if we think about you we like you!!!!!
