How important is health? Well, even the word -hello- comes from the word health! So not only do people drink to each-others health – however ironic – but we also say a short form of -to your health- every time we greet each-other. Next time you say hello, be conscious of the fact that you are in fact offering a prayer or wish of health for the person you are speaking to! Language is full of meaning that we are not conscious of but that connects us with our history. Perhaps the word hello has worked on our subconscious minds to keep mankind healthier over the centuries. Note: Hello in many European languages is halo, ola, hallo or hey, also rooted in health. Health in latin is -salus- the root of hello in many languages including salut in French and salam in Persian. It seems our fondest wish for our fellow-humans the world over is for them to be healthy!
